Frequently Asked Questions

What's the point of a plunge pool?

Plunge pools are perfect for those with limited space who still want the luxury of a private pool. They provide a compact, yet deep, swimming option ideal for cooling off, relaxing, or even exercising with the addition of swim jets.

Can you swim in a plunge pool?

Yes, you can swim in a plunge pool thanks to swim jets which can provide an intensified swimming regimen.

Swim jets in plunge pools create a steady flow of water resistance, enabling you to swim in place continuously. This mimics the sensation of long-distance swimming and serves as an excellent exercise routine for anyone seeking a good workout.

Even without the swim jets, you can still teach your kids safe swimming practices.

What pool shapes do you offer?

We offer a variety of plunge pool shapes including round, square, rectangular, and freeform. Choose a precast shell from one of our partner – Plungie – or have it custom designed by us!

What materials are plunge pools made from?

Our precast models are made from concrete or fibreglass, and for our custom pools we use premium shotcrete. Each material offers different advantages in terms of durability, maintenance, and aesthetics.

How much does a plunge pool cost?

The cost of a plunge pool can vary depending on size, material, installation complexity, and added features. On average, you can expect to spend between $38 – $55k if there is clear access, and $55 – $65k if there’s minimal access and craning over a 2 story property is required to be done from the road.

Do you offer above ground plunge pools?

Yes, we do offer semi-above-ground and above-ground plunge pools. These options are versatile, easily installed, and can be a great fit for yards with sloping terrain.

Is a fence required around an above ground pool?

Yes, for the sake of safety, it’s required in many areas to have an approved pool fence or barrier surrounding an above-ground pool.

If the pool’s installation height is 1.2m from the ground, some regions may permit using the exterior pool wall as a part of the fencing, enhancing safety around the pool area. However, regardless of this allowance, a secure fence should always be present at the pool’s entry point and around the skimmer box.

How often do you change water in the pool?

As a general rule, the water in your plunge pool should be replaced every three years.

However, with meticulous maintenance and effective water treatment, the replacement frequency could be extended. For optimal results, it’s advisable to have your pool water professionally inspected at your local pool shop regularly.

This procedure ensures the water’s balance and health, providing a safe swimming environment for you and your family.

What are the benefits of a plunge pool?

Having a plunge pool brings multiple benefits. It provides a private swimming experience in smaller spaces, is more cost-efficient and easier to maintain than a full-sized pool, and is environmentally friendly due to its lower water, energy, and chemical requirements. It can also enhance your property’s aesthetic appeal and value.

Does a plunge pool add value to your property?

Yes, a tastefully designed plunge pool can add value to your property. This amenity adds a touch of luxury to your backyard, making it more attractive to potential buyers seeking unique features.

However, the value addition can also greatly depend on your location. In warmer climates, such as Gold Coast, South East QLD or Northern NSW, where residents can enjoy the pool almost year-round, a plunge pool is likely to add considerable value to your home.

Conversely, in colder regions like Tasmania, the value increase might not be as significant due to the limited seasonal use of the pool.

What size is a typical plunge pool?

The size of a plunge pool can vary but typically, they range from 4 to 7 meters in length and are about 2 to 3 meters wide. Take a look at our precast selection and if you can’t find the right match there, we can customize the dimensions to fit your available space.

Will I need a crane for the installation?

The requirement for a crane during pool installation often hinges on your backyard’s accessibility and the specific pool type. In numerous cases, a crane becomes necessary to hoist and position the pool shell accurately.

Typically, the truck should be able to approach within a meter of the pool’s intended location for the crane to perform its task effectively.

What is the best surface for a pool?

Pool surfaces can be made from a variety of materials such as concrete, tile, fibreglass or vinyl. The best choice depends on your budget, aesthetics, and maintenance preferences.
